The Omnilore Book Club.
Do you enjoy discussing the books you read with others?
The Omnilore Book Club welcomes you!
The Omnilore Book Club meets every other month for members to discuss a book selected by a member and read by the group. Book choices can be fiction or nonfiction bestsellers or classics of any genre or era. The member who selects the book provides a brief biography of the author and prepares questions to get discussion going, which is easy to do with this group.
Last session we read and talked about the mystery/thriller Gone Before Goodbye by Harlan Coben and Reese Witherspoon, a page turner about a military surgeon grappling with the suspicious death of her husband and the suspension of her medical license, who is drawn into a global conspiracy.
Our August selection is The Tortilla Curtain, a book by award-winning author T.C. Boyle that has been described as a tragicomic portrayal of illegal immigration and the fractured American dream in Southern California. The book has been praised for its enduring relevance, gripping tension, and balanced, empathetic portrayal. In October, we will discuss The Unknown World, a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Edward P. Jones that explores the complexities of slavery in the fictional county of Manchester, Virginia, before the Civil War, through a Black man who becomes a slave owner himself.
Notice of the next book club and book selection goes out two months in advance to all members, with a second notice one month in advance. Members who plan to attend are asked to respond to koljn7831@gmail.com or ampruetz@gmail.com
