Great meeting on July 15! Thanks to all who attended.
Save the date for our next planning meeting is currently scheduled for August 19, 4:30 PM by Zoom. I’ll send an email reminder shortly before that.
Future Plans:
July 25, 7 PM Shakespeare by the Sea’s Macbeth at Dominguez Park in Redondo Beach. We’ve heard this is a great performance and our local theater group, Little Fish Theatre, is absolutely worth supporting. So although there isn’t a ticket charge to see this, please bring some cash to donate. A folding chair is also a good idea, and of course, bring something to eat and drink, and maybe a jacket or a blanket in case it gets a little chilly.
So far those interested are: Joan Kolic, Jean Steinmetz and me, but everyone is welcome.
August 9, 11:45 AM, Banning House and Museum Tour, Wilmington. We’ll figure out a place to grab a bite to eat afterwards.
Pls let me know ASAP if you’re interested in this, as it’s coming up in just a few weeks. Carpools would be something to arrange when we get closer.
Sept 19, 2 PM matinee, Othello at the Westchester Playhouse, with dinner afterwards. If we have at least 10 people, we can get a bit of a reduction in the price – Jean is checking on this and I’ll let you know.
Right now on the list to go are:
Lynn Knudsen, Cheri Davis, Joan Ayton, Rick and Adrian, Selma, Bill, Rhonda and Joan Kolic. Please let me know if this is wrong and for anyone else, pls chime in before the end of this month so we can get tickets.
Anyone who can drive, please confirm.
Oct 15 tentative plan for a Craftsman House Tour, Pasadena and lunch at the Atheneum on the Cal Tech campus. We haven’t made definite reservations yet, but hope to do that relatively quickly. Not sure of the price yet. We will be carpooling. Please let me know ASAP if you’re interested in this.
Nov 7-8, Santa Barbara overnighter
Drive up on Saturday morning and do a Lotusland tour in the afternoon, stopping on the way in Montecito for lunch; spend the night (Rhonda is working on lodging options)and stroll through the arts and crafts fair on the beach Sunday morning, then head home.
Lotusland tickets ($75-80) will go on sale August 4 but we probably won’t book tickets immediately. However, please RSVP for this by Aug 1.
Those interested in going so far are:
Rhonda, Anne D., Amy, Jean and me.
Dataland has been moved to November or January. We will revisit that as we get a little closer.
So far those interested in going are: Irene, Dayla, Rhonda, Anne Destabelle and me.
Geffen Museum - no specific dates yet but those interested so far are: Rhonda, Adrian and Rick, and me.
Lucas Museum opening in October. We will plan for that later in the year or early next year.
Mummies at the Science Museum in Exposition Park - no specific dates yet. Ticket price is $57, and we would, of course carpool.
Autry Museum of the American West, Griffith Park - open 10 to 4, Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 to 5 on the weekends. Senior ticket price $15 (but with a group of 10 or more, the tickets would be $13). We can reserve an admission time and a docent tour (at 11 AM, 1 PM or 3 PM) in advance for any size group. Carpool of course. Let me know if you are interested in this.
Lots of things to look forward to! Look forward to hearing from you.
