To Enable Your Windows/PC Browser's "MAILTO" Feature
(Makes clicking on email addresses on webpages result in sending an email to that address)

If you do not have a problem with Submit or are not using a PC you need not read any further.

  1. If you click on Submit and nothing happens, you get an error message or an email program opens that requires configuration then the following may help:

  2. If above are both yes then you need to install/configure a PC based email program. Some browsers may be configured to fix your problem but I cannot make MS IE or Google Chrome do that. I suggest using Windows Live Mail. It is already included with Windows 7 & 8 and can be downloaded for free for Windows Vista and XP. It replaces Outlook Express on XP and Windows Mail on Vista and will work with all browsers. Go to All Programs on your PC and see if Windows Live Mail is present, if it is go to step 3.

  3. To configure Windows Live Mail you must have your email address, user name and password. I f you have thousands of emails on your email web site I would suggest that you first delete as many as possible before setting up Windows Live Mail or else all of the email you have online will automatically download and this may take a very long time!

Once you configure Windows Live Mail, click on the Submit button and see if it now works.

If you still have a problem, go again to All Programs/Default Programs/Set Default Program/Windows Live Mail/Set this program as default  (I had to do this with a new Windows 7 computer) and try again.

I find that Windows Live Mail is easier to use than the gmail website and I can access several email addresses with it.
