Omnilore Volunteer Opportunities
Omnilore
is run almost entirely on volunteer labor. Johan Smith, our
administrative assistant, is our only paid employee, and a part-time
employee at that! Obviously, we could not exist without the dedicated
efforts of scores of giving people who make their time and skills
available for our worthwhile organization.
Please consider taking your turn assisting us. In
the process, we guarantee you'll make many new friends and have the
opportunity to exercise your many latent work and creative skills.
Only you can figure out how your skills might best be utilized within
our organization. Explore the varied opportunities the exist within
Omnilore by taking the links below. Then take the plunge and make your
interest known to the proper contact person.
[Note: Most of the links below are in our Members
Only
Website
(password
required). This page is placed here, in the
General Information area of the Website so that nonmembers,
contemplating joining our organization, can see the large variety of
interesting and stimulating volunteer opportunities that are available
to members.]
You can volunteer to:
- serve as an Officer or
in a Support Contact position.
If you are interested in one of these elected or appointed positions,
the best place to start is to talk to one or more of the Members-at-Large. These officers can
give you valuable advice and steer you toward other individuals that
you may need to talk with about your interests.
- be an SDG Coordinator or
Co-Coordinator.
On each trimester's registration form, you're asked if you'd like to be
a coordinator or co-coordinator for any of your requested SDGs. Don't
hesitate to check the "Yes" box—you'll have plenty of support and
training from the Head
Coordinator.
- serve on the Computer
Working
Group or the Website
Working Group.
If you are interested in one of these Groups, contact the Chair and ask
to be invited to their next meeting. The current chair of the Computer
Working Group is Rick Spillane.
If
you

Website
Working
Group,

If

happens.
- serve on the Curriculum
Committee.
As a member of this Committee, you will help our organization put
together the best possible course offerings for our members to select
from each trimester. If you are interested in this opportunity, contact
the Curriculum Chair.
- serve as Newsletter
volunteer.
You can help as a proofreader, a staff writer, or an editor. If you are
interested contact the Newsletter
Editor
- organize a new Special Interest Group.
There is detailed information on this page about how you might go about
starting a new Group.
- help in small ways on discrete projects.
If you want to help in a small way on discrete projects that various
Board members may be involved in, again the best place to start is to
talk to one or more of the Members-at-Large.
These
officers
can
steer
you
toward
the
right
project
and

person.
Please join us! We are always in need of new
volunteers.
