Everything Wiki: A Computer Talk by
Rich Mansfield
What’s a wiki? What type of person contributes to a wiki? How difficult
is it to make changes to an existing wiki, or to author a new one? Are
there different types of wikis? Learn all of this and more at my April
28th Computer Talk. I am a recent convert, but I have plenty of
fascinating information to pass along to you. What’s more, I am
enthusiastic about the subject.
Wikis—as in Wikipedia or WikiLeaks—are something that anyone can make
as easily as they do word-processing; and wikis provide advantages over
email when it comes to collaborating on projects. Before coming to the
Talk, you might want to check out this quick
introductory
video
During my presentation, we will explore possible uses that Omnilore
might have for implementing a wiki, e.g., organizing a get-together,
gathering questions a forum speaker might be asked to address,
collaborating on an Omnilore presentation, etc.
Do you need some more convincing? Listening to Clay
Shirky's
TED
talk might help.
Please, come and enjoy learning more about Everything Wiki.

Tom LaGrelius, MD, FAAFP, is a general practitioner who operates a
concierge practice in Torrance with a specialty in geriatrics. Dr.
LaGrelius has a strong interest in medical politics.
Dr. LaGrelius’s thesis is that
government
involvement is part of the problem, not the solution, for the U.S.’s
healthcare system. Over forty years of practice, he has gained
an expertly informed
insider’s view of the mounting problems in our healthcare system,
including
- soaring
costs,
- decreasing
access to doctors coupled with disincentives for doctors to enter and
stay in
the field,
- inconsistent
quality of care (including all too often unnecessary or questionable
procedures exacerbating the other problems),
- problems
interacting with insurance companies, which affect both patients and
doctors, and
- a poisonous
legal environment burdening doctors with unreasonable financial
liabilities in
cases of unfavorable outcomes.
He believes government
intervention almost always results in more harm than benefit.
Dr.
LaGrelius will examine some of these historical problems, where we are
today,
and the impact of the implementation or revocation of The Patient
Protection
and
Affordable Care Act of 2010 (nicknamed
“ObamaCare”).
He will propose constructive alternative reforms that can restore the
reputation of the U.S. healthcare system
as the
envy of the world.
Since his first certification in 1977, Dr. LaGrelius has found time to
serve either as president, delegate, board member, chair, instructor,
or founder, of at least ten professional organizations. His personal
interests are extensive: active in aviation, photography, exercise,
public speaking, medical politics, writing, and health care reform.
Come listen to the message this prominent physician has for us on a
most timely and controversial issue. (And, read an interesting article by Dr.
LaGrelius in the April 7 Daily Breeze about his concierge medicine
practice by CLICKING HERE.)
